The GFWC Kankakee Valley Women's Club recently adopted its new name while still retaining its Junior status. Serving the area near Demotte and Wheatfield in Indiana the Club strives to enhance community life in the rural setting. This volunteer club was founded by local ladies in 1973 as a way of giving back to the community.
Members, ranging in age from 27 to 75, gather each month at the local library. Whether the meeting is all business, making plans for the next community project, or hosting a variety of speakers the members are sure to sneak in a little fun.
The GFWC KV Women's Club is proudly associated with the General Federation of Women's Clubs, an international service organization. (GFWC clubwomen are true volunteers in action. In 2015, GFWC and its members raised nearly $80 million on behalf of more than 165,000 projects, and volunteered more than 12 million hours.)
The Club is also an integral part of the 45 individual clubs that make up the Indiana Federation of Clubs, our state chapter of GFWC.
(Our former name was Demotte Jr. Woman's Club.)
We are stars that brighten our community. Be a star too.
